Holiday debuggeryWe know there were a few kinks with the holiday promotion. We've been working very hard to get them ironed out. If you have a paid/permanent account, keep on sending those coupons. Here's an update:
- If you were unable to send out multiple coupons at a time, please perform a hard refresh, and you should be good to go.
- If you redeemed a coupon to upgrade your account and the balance at checkout was $0 instead of $9.95 or $15, this means your upgrade did not go through (nor were you charged). We've straightened this out, so you can now apply your holiday coupon toward the purchase of an annual paid account.
- If you tried to redeem a holiday coupon and had trouble using a gift certificate to cover the balance of an annual paid account, we identified the root problem. If this happened to you, you can now use your holiday coupon together with your gift certificate.
- If the number of holiday coupons you have available suddenly goes up (instead of down), this might be due to recipients declining the coupons, at which point your pool of available coupons will be replenished and, therefore, increase.
- If you need assistance with holiday coupons or pretty much anything else (well, LiveJournal related), please open a support request and we'll be more than happy to help!
Tweaks- There were some initial glitches displaying results on My Guests, but we've worked them out. We hope you'll check out who's been checking you out!
- Some of you reported formatting issues using the Rich Text Editor (i.e., line breaks were being removed incorrectly). We've implemented a fix! Thanks so much for your patience.
Give a little extra!
We're pleased to report that we've already sold over 100 virtual red ribbons in honor of National AIDS Awareness month. Remember, for each charitable vgift you purchase for $2.99, we'll donate 100 percent of gross proceeds to IAVI.org (the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative) to fund the development of an HIV vaccine. Once again, we thank you for your generosity.
Celebrate with holiday vGifts!
Stop by the Virtual Gift Shop and share some holiday magic with your LiveJournal friends.

I don't like Christmas. There is a small, very small, part of me that is still child-like and gets excited but in general Christmas has always been a letdown. In past years I've said all I wanted for Christmas was a real tree. Somehow I still haven't gotten my wish. The last real tree I had was probably back when I lived in DC. Usually whomever I'm dating and I fight over the tree issue to the point where I don't get to have a tree at all. This year I said I wasn't going through that again, but again, I have no tree. The tree issue was one of the determining factors in the ending of my recent relationship. He wanted a table top sized tree and I wanted a normal sized one. When he said his reasoning for wanting a smaller tree was so that he didn't have to buy and store more ornaments, I knew it wasn't to work out. Plus, he was going to be gone for Christmas and New Year's. What's the point of having a significant other if you're going to be spending your holidays alone anyway? A friend of mine says people get attached after the summer so they have someone to spend the holidays with. It's funny, I typically break up with people either right before or during the holidays. On the few occasions I've had a boyfriend over the holidays, it's never been all that I wanted. One year my man at the time dragged me shopping (i despise shopping) with him and made me help him pick out presents for his ex and his daughter. He didn't even get me anything for Christmas that year, which was shitty. It's not all about getting fancy things, I'm not a materialistic person. I have a thing for designer purses but that's it. When I was younger I was always in trouble for something stupid. I wasn't a bad kid, I was smart, so I got into things. I was defiant and rarely did what I was told, but I didn't get into serious trouble at school; I've never been arrested. Still, Christmas was the time i was punished the most. The tree would start out with a certain number of presents for me underneath it, then each time I got in trouble, one of my presents would be removed and would either be taken back to the store or kept for a later date when I was allowed to open it. My sister, who was a goody two shoes (and still is quite the ass-kisser), had piles of presents while I would sit and watch. It was cruel. It made me hate Christmas. The holiday is supposed to be about someone putting some thought into getting you a gift, something you could use or want, some small gesture that will give another person joy. When I was married I used to make all sorts of things for his family including hand sewn sachets with ribbon detailing, crocheted potholders, blankets, etc. I used to like that my husband's family got together around the holidays until I saw how catty they all acted. If you don't like each other, why pretend? Some people live for drama, I suppose. In the past 6 years, Christmas has become the holiday of death. First, I lost Cory Thompson (Mr T). Then my cat Sammy died on new year's eve right in front of me. Last year my uncle died. It was ruled a suicide though all the evidence points to a homicide. Whatever the cause it's another body on the pile. So yeah, happy holidays. I'm counting the days until it's all over. Julie Simone

The Mutate Britain catwalk for Rachel Freire last Saturday was an interesting experience - first time I've ever done a show outdoors at 8.30pm on a slightly wet stage in 8 inch platforms. The word freezing does not quite communicate the level of cold. I was glad for the 8 inch heels though; the other models were all 6ft in their bare feet so we kinda balanced out! lol. It was pretty difficult to walk with cold-numb limbs but the clothing was fantastic. I don't have any runway pics yet but I found a shot I did afterwards posing on one of the many artworks by the Mutiod Waste company: I missed the guys name but I think he was working on the Engineers of Desire stand that was next to this particular vehicle. Photo is by Philip Volkers.I need to find some shots of the mechanical fire breathing bull that they had walking around the exhibition too, it is possibly one of the coolest things I have ever seen! While I'm here and on the subject, thought I'd also post a studio shot of the leggings I wore for the show! :) Made by Lady Lucie and designed by Rachel for her SS/10 collection. The armour and mask are by Manuel Albarran. Photo by Allan Amato ( Click for full view): . Haven't really been up to much else lately. There's been a lot of hibernation and general hiding from the cold. I went to see Avatar last week, which I'm very happy to say totally lived up to the hype. Absolutely stunning visually and very very emotive. This afternoon I went to the Tate Modern, which mostly confirmed for me the fact that I just don't 'get' a lot of modern art. There were a few visually interesting bits though - particularly the Pop Life exhibition, which included a Takashi Murakami music video of Kirsten Dunst in cosplay outfit singing "I'm turning Japanese". Nom. Actually looking forward to Christmas/NYE this year... I haven't really been that bothered one way or the other about Christmas for quite some time, but 2009 has been an exceptionally wonderful year for me and I'm really excited about celebrating it! I shall be doing a fashion show for Blacklikorish Latex at the Torture Garden New Years Eve Ball. I imagine there will be much merriment and devious fun!
